One-to-one lesson FAQs (Frequently asked questions)

Here are some questions that students often ask me (and some that they don't, but probably should).
Do you use a textbook?
Nope.
Instead of following one textbook, I use a carefully chosen mix of resources. Some come from exam boards or well-known publishers, others are original materials I’ve developed myself over the years.
You don’t need to buy anything. Everything is included in the price of the course.
This approach means we can focus on what you actually need to learn, not what page we’re on. It also means you’ll get the clearest, most relevant examples.
Will I get resources and notes?
Yes! Everything we use in lessons is shared with you.
If we use a worksheet, reference page, exercise, link, or anything else, you’ll get a copy. I also send follow-up notes and suggested practice between lessons (if you want it. Some students prefer to just focus on the lesson itself).
How long are the lessons? How often are they?
Lessons are 60 minutes (offering better value than many other schools).
Most one-to-one students have 1, 2 or sometimes 3 lessons per week. This gives us time to focus properly without feeling rushed. It also leaves enough space in your week to breathe, process, and apply what you’ve learned.
Some students take more or fewer lessons, depending on their goals and schedules. We can discuss what suits you best when you book.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Life happens. I get it.
If you need to cancel or move a lesson, just let me know 1 week in advance. That gives me time to offer your slot to someone else, and we can reschedule without losing the lesson.
If it’s less than 7 days, the lesson is counted, but I always try to be fair, especially if something unexpected comes up. Sometimes the lesson can be rescheduled for the same week, but this cannot be guaranteed.
Do you offer support between lessons?
Yes, and you’re not just left on your own between lessons.
Active students are invited to join a private WhatsApp group where you can:
• ask questions
• get quick support
• practise little bits of English during the week
• share ideas or resources
• feel connected
It’s informal, low-pressure, and completely optional, but many students say it really helps build confidence and community, especially if you don’t have many chances to speak English day to day.
How do I pay?
After agreeing a provisional timetable and registration, you will be sent an electronic invoice. It's safe and trusted. Just click the button on the invoice.
No hidden fees. No unexpected charges.
Alternatively, you can pay by bank transfer, but please note, this may incur additional bank fees or currency conversion fees.
One-to-one lessons are paid in blocks of 10. Other courses vary depending on the course or programme you choose.
Can I try before I decide?
Yes. We can set up a short 'get-to-know-you' session to discuss your learning goals and get a feel for the platform and format. There’s no obligation to continue, but if it feels like a good fit, we’ll take it from there.
Still got questions?
Send me a message. I’d much rather you ask than feel unsure.
Clarity is part of how I teach, and how I run my business. If you’re thinking about lessons but still wondering whether it’s the right time, I’m happy to talk it through.
No pressure. Just real answers, so you can decide.
